Stephanie Lodge, our founder, one day was watching a video online of someone with a sign that said "Free Hugs" standing in a plaza getting ignored. This person must have had twenty or more people pass them by before getting a single hug. It made her realize how uncomfortable a simple hug can be for some people socially when they see only one person looking for love in that way. It broke her heart a bit, and she realized that if you had a group of people together, hugging each other and offering hugs to others, than it would be a lot harder to ignore. Thus, the idea of The Hug Mob was born.
